This Ramadan, Do Sadqa E Jariya For Those Who Have Passed Away
To Realize Our Vision, We Have Partnered With

Many of us have lost someone we have loved dearly…
We wish we could hear their voice and their laughter…
See their smiles…
Relive our precious moments with them…
Send them one more text message or make one more phone call …
Hug them one last time…
Tell them how much we miss them…
But we can’t.
so we wait for all of us to meet in Heaven some day, inshaAllah…
Until we meet them again, there are only a few things we can do for them.
We can:
1. pray for them,
And
2. do charity on their behalf to pay a tribute to them and send rewards their way
These are the only two things that give us solace…
About Ek Plate Biryani
Ek Plate Biryani is a registered NGO based in Canada
We started out in 2019 to provide a platform to people from all around the world to help those in distress.
Initially, we began with feeding the vulnerable in Pakistan, but, over the time, we have expanded our domain of work in terms of services as well as area.
We are now operating in 5 countries: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, and Uganda.
We provide proofs to our donors on our social media as well as privately, if requested.
Our teams are dedicatedly working to provide food, access to clean water, treatment solutions, education support, and aid in emergencies.
Our Vision
We envision a world without hunger… a planet where no one has to be uncertain about their primary needs.
A lot of us at Ek Plate Biryani have lost our people…
We know how it feels…
And that is exactly why this project was started…
…to honor our loved ones…
And to show our love to them in a way that would matter to them…
We know how it feels…

…to honor our loved ones…
And to show our love to them in a way that would matter to them…

The Best Way To Honor Them
The best way to express our love to our late loved ones is by doing charity on their behalf…
The rewards of which will be cherished by them more than anything else…
The Messenger (S.A.W) said: “When a man dies, his good deeds come
to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge and a
righteous son who will pray for him.”
[Sahih Muslim]
to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge and a
righteous son who will pray for him.”
[Sahih Muslim]
Sa’d Ibn Ubadah (R.A) once asked the Prophet (S.A.W), “Which charity
is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water.”
[Ibn Majah; Sunan al-Nasai]
is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water.”
[Ibn Majah; Sunan al-Nasai]
These two hadiths tell us the best ongoing charity.
And, what’s better than donating sadqa-e-jariya on their behalf with the best form of charity?
We might not be able to talk to them… but we can send them the gift
they need and will love.
You can donate hand pumps in the water-deprived areas of Thar in our
loved ones’ names to honor their memory and send them rewards that
will continue for years!
InshaAllah.
Why Hand Pumps In Thar
Thar is a desert with a population of about 1.6 million people. They are facing severe water scarcity, which consequently leads to food shortages.
A population of 1.6 million people is living without access to clean,
fresh, drinkable water in the extremely hot desert…
Every year, they see hundreds of their children, elderly, and animals
die of thirst, malnourishment, and water-borne diseases…
But they are unable to help their dying loved ones…
What can they help these poor, sick people with?
Dirty, diseased water?
They need a helping hand to take them out of these traps of…
Poverty
Diseases
Deaths.
Laxmi – a middle-aged woman, in a colorful outfit with white plastic bangles reaching upto her elbows – can amazingly balance a heavy water claypot on her head and walk 3 hours every day to bring water for her family and livestock.
It isn’t only the fetching that is exhausting, pulling out water from the water well requires every ounce of her strength…
And she tried to bring 10 – 12 liters of water, like her fellow women.
Laxmi knows that consuming water stored in such containers can cause diseases…
And who would know this better than Laxmi?!
Laxmi had 11 children.
But, only 6 are alive.
She lost 5 children to malnourishment and water-borne diseases.
She has no other option…
If it is to choose between death due to thirst or death due to disease, she has to make a hard choice…
If it is to choose between death due to thirst or death due to disease, she has to make a hard choice…
…with less immediate dangers…
And, she chose to spend her time, her strength, and her life to increase the chances of survival for her family…
And, she chose to spend her time, her strength, and her life to increase the chances of survival for her family…

We, however, can help Laxmi save her family, give her
relief, and give them all a chance at better lives.
Water Can Change Lives In Thar
Did you know that Thar becomes full of greenery every time it rains?
Thar is a fertile desert…
…which means, if there is sufficient water, they can grow their crops and do agriculture.
Their crops can make them not only self-sufficient in food, but also improve their financial conditions and overall quality of life…
The better economic conditions will allow their children to pursue education, too…
The only problem is that rainfall is rare…
…and unreliable…
The desert of Thar faces severe water scarcity because it relies on rainfall…
If we join hands, Thar can see a better future…
We all can change the lives of millions…
One deep-well water hand pump at a time.
It will be a Sadaqa-e-jariya for us and our loved ones, too, inshaAllah.
Thar: A Graveyard of Hand Pumps
An ordinary hand pump can be installed within a few days… because it is dug down to only 50 to 70 feet deep…
Most of the water-scarce villages in Thar have such low underground water levels that with 80 feet, the hand pump fails to bring up water after a few weeks or months…
That is why, Thar is sometimes called a “graveyard of hand pumps.”
Ek Plate Biryani aims for longer-lasting solutions: Deep-Well Hand Pumps
Hand Pumps To Last 15 - 20 Years: Hows & Whys?

A deep-well hand pump goes down to about 150 feet deep…
Hand pumps with such depth easily cater to most areas with water scarcity.
These hand pumps work well in most of the Thar villages and last long.
We ensure longevity of hand pumps by providing the locals with the tools and training to repair and maintain the hand pump.
Our team visits the hand pump sites on a regular basis to check up on the proper functioning and to make sure that the villagers are not facing any issues.
These hand pumps stand out with some great benefits:
- Fresh water within their village
- Last about 15 to 20 years
- Good for 250 – 400 people
- Saves 3 to 5 hours each day for the women
- Sufficient for about 800 animals
- Help reduce deaths (due to diseases) by 40%
Ek Plate Biryani -- An Organization Created To Help YOU Reach Out To Those In Need
Ek Plate Biryani is the brainchild of a handful of us Canadian residents who wanted to give back to society.
We knew so many in the world are suffering. And, we wanted to help them.
When we set out to donate, we didn’t know who to trust. Most of the organizations did not offer enough proof.
There, we decided to go the extra mile and create a platform where anyone from any part of the world can help the needy…

Ek Plate Biryani is a registered Not-For-Profit Organization based in Canada and operating in Pakistan, Uganda, India, the Philippines, and Bangladesh.
Our team includes a number of trained, professional, and honest operation managers and quality control managers, along with several volunteers.
We aim to help people in every possible way. So far, we have the following projects under our belt:
- Ek Plate Biryani distributes ration packages containing full month’s grocery door-to-door in underprivileged areas regularly.
- We provide fresh, ready-to-eat meals for needy individuals. Over the last year, we have distributed food to 700,000 people.
- Our team has installed 18 hand pumps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, for the Rohingya community.
- In Thar, Pakistan, we have installed 194 hand pumps to cope with water shortages.
- We help a street school in Karachi with healthy breakfast and lunches for students every day.
- We have donated dialysis machines to SIUT, Pakistan’s best urology center.
All this was possible because of your help.
In our setup, every penny is accounted for. We ensure you receive the proof whenever you need them.
To ensure 100% transparency, we take pictures and videos of the projects for proof. They are shared on our website, Facebook, and Instagram, as needed.
The rest can be shared with you upon request.

The Trust of 20,000 Donors Keep Us Motivated
“Hello there, Alhamdulillah I'm doing great. My father passed away 7 months ago from covid and I wanted to donate something on behalf of him, and I remembered this one beautiful hadith prophet Muhammad (pbuh) stated. Sa’d ibn ‘Ubadah reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died.
Shall I give charity on her behalf?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Yes.” I said, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water.” I actually stumbled upon your instagram page going through my news feed so subhanallah it was by the qadr of Allah that I was granted the gift and ability to donate to your cause. I'm happy I did, and I hope it benefits all those who use it for many years to come.”

“I myself came across the Ek Plate Biryani project on Facebook and saw the opportunity to donate to a cause to provide clean water as I really believe it’s the basic need that many unfortunately don’t have clean access to. I am glad Allah gave me the opportunity and ability to donate and also the strength and capabilities of your team to make this come true.
May Allah bless your team and increase in barakah on this and all the pumps and amenities you have built in the past and will build in the future. May Allah accept our deed and effort. Ameen.”
