The Heart Breaking Reality of Thousands...

Shabbir is a construction labourer making only $3/day. This was the money that was feeding his family. Last year, due to the universal epidemic, the man lost all the work opportunities. He could not find any odd jobs to keep himself and his family afloat and was dependent on charities.
Now that things are getting back to normal, he finds work on some days. But, uncertainty is always there. He does not want to take his kids and stand in line at a charity for food. He does not want his kids to feel that their father cannot even feed them.
He feels helpless and agonizes over the fact that his children look up to him with hope in their eyes.
He, who had cherished being their hero, now feels like a failure.
Millions across Pakistan are living through similar scenarios.

According to a survey conducted by the World Food Programme in 2018

more than 7.6 million Pakistanis

were uncertain about whether they will get enough food for themselves and their families.

In the recent trying times, things got harder.

People lost their jobs.
Food availability became uncertain.
And, the overall quality of life got affected.

Things have started going back to normal…
But, a kind push from all of us can improve the lives of so many laborers, greengrocers, fruit sellers, security guards, hawkers, rickshaw drivers, and other daily wagers.
This are the people who work hard to make ends meet.
Our support can help them hold their heads high in their family and society.

A Win-Win Solution

The lockdown last year left many unemployed in its wake. People with small scale businesses had to shut down their work to stay at home... and consequently, their savings and investable income dwindled.

Now, when things have started going back to normal and they can return to work, they do not have the money to get back into their business.

Jobs are still scarce.

These dignified people who used to do charity are now striving to make ends meet.

They have to take care of their families basic needs and pay their kids’ school fees, even if they cut down on every luxury.
A lot of these people consider turning to charities for help.
The problem, however, with charities is that the beneficiaries have to go stand in queues and get their rations. Or, in other cases, the charities take pictures for proof.
These are understandable measures taken by charity organizations… but, these white collar people shy away from them.
We gave this matter a lot of thought.
We had to come up with a solution to keep the honor and dignity of the beneficiaries intact while providing proof to our donors.
Ek Plate Biryani decided to follow this procedure:

We identify and verify such individuals and families; get food bags prepared with a month’s worth of ration for a family of 6 to 8 individuals; mention the name of the donor on the bag; and deliver the bag to the beneficiary discreetly at night.

The delivery is carried out in such a way that even their neighbors do get to know.

And, the picture of the bag is emailed to the donor.

Also, since the beneficiaries know the name of their supporter, they can especially pray for them.

A Rescue Initiative by Ek Plate Biryani

We are starting out a campaign where the food will be distributed as if by your own hands.
We can provide them with food rations for the entire month so they do not face insecurity throughout the month.
Our team will prepare food bags — with your or your loved one’s name on them — containing all the necessities and distribute them to the needy.
If we make this movement strong, we will be able to reach out to as many people as possible.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The
Messenger of Allah, peace and
blessings be upon him, said,

“The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most
Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the
One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.”

Sponsor Families For The Entire Month

On average, one meal at a fine dining restaurant costs more than $50.
But did you know that you can feed 5 people for a month for the same amount?
In Pakistan, you can buy food for a family of 5 for the entire month for $50… that is, less than the cost of your one meal!
We ensure that they receive good quality food items and in sufficient quantity.

Those who sponsor 4 or more families, their or their loved ones name will be printed on each bag.

It will let the beneficiaries know the names of their supporters and they can especially pray for them.

A Breakdown of Each Food Bag:

Ek Plate Biryani:
A Brief Introduction

Ek Plate Biryani is the brainchild of a handful of us Canadian residents who wanted to give back to society.
We knew so many in the world are suffering. And, we wanted to help them. When we set out to donate, we didn’t know who to trust. Most of the organizations did not offer enough proof.
There, we decided to go the extra mile and create a platform where anyone from any part of the world can help the needy…

Hence, Ek Plate Biryani came into being.

Ek Plate Biryani is a registered Not-For-Profit Organization based in Canada and operating in Pakistan, Uganda, India, the Philippines, and Bangladesh.
Our team includes a number of trained, professional, and honest operation managers and quality control managers, along with several volunteers.
We aim to help people in every possible way. So far, we have the following projects under our belt:
